This question is really best answered looking to the original language of the Scriptures. In the Hebrew, the word soul in Judges 10 is nephesh. This is the same word that is used in Genesis 2. Nephesh means to breathe, to be refreshed, to be breathed upon. Since God said "Let us make man in our IMAGE and in our LIKENESS...", reasoning would suggest that the Holy Spirit (which inspired the authors of these Scriptures IITim. 3:16-17) would use the same word "soul" in both writings. He breathed into this newly formed creature that was in His image and man became a living soul just as the Creator was a living soul. Gen. 2:7 If you wish to study the Scriptures more in depth, going back to the original languages is a beautiful way to learn. I highly recommend e.sword.net and Strongs Concordance. Be Blessed, Lena
We are made in God's image. We are a three part creation. We have a physical body, a spirit and a soul. The spirit awakens when we connect to God who is Spirit and all truth. The soul is the center of our emotions. Does God have a soul? Absolutely! Is love an emotion, a very deep one! 1 John 4:7,8 - "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is Love." 1 John 4:16 "And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him." The Word soul occurs more than 750 times in the Bible. God knows every tiny thing about us. He created us in His tri-part image. Body, SOUL and spirit. The Bible tells us to love God with all our heart, soul, and strength. Deuteronomy 6:4,5 and Joshua 22:5. Matthew 22:37.
