When I intercede for people, can I declare the WORD of God over them in prayer, or should I only be praying to God to rescue them?

Intercessory prayer in my opinion states the person(s), the problem in general or specific if known. I try to pray that the need be met (healing, etc.) but followed by 'Thy will be done'. As in all prayer, in my opinion, it is our time with God but we are to always pray for his will to be done. He has a plan, we are just lifting people up for his blessing and help in their lives. It is commonly believed I think that intercessory prayer comes before petitions for ourselves. I try to follow this order in my prayers: Adoration, confession, thanksgiving, intercession and petition so that I approach God first by acknowledging his greatness and my sins and then lift others and finally myself up in prayer. Hope this helps.
