We used to sing this wonderful chorus at midsized Scottsdale Bible Church (now a megachurch) in Scottsdale, Arizona: Gone, Gone, Gone, Gone by Helen Griggs "Gone, gone, gone, gone Yes my sins are gone, Now my soul is free And in my heart’s a song; Buried in the deepest sea Yes, that’s good enough for me– I shall live eternally Praise God! My sins are G-O-N-E gone!" I loved it! Micah 7:19 KJV He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. Think of this: cast … into … depths of the sea—never to rise again to view, buried out of sight in eternal oblivion: not merely at the shore side, where they may rise again. JFB Did you notice how many sins God puts in that sea? The verse says that all our sins will be cast or hurled into the sea. What sins have you been trying to fish out lately? Have you been fishing out your own sins? Still unable to forgive yourself even though God has completely forgiven you? Maybe you are like me and it is not your sins you keep fishing for. Maybe like me you keep holding onto a sin you think was committed against you by your partner. Is your spouse a Christian did God forgive them for their sins? If so, then you cannot hold any sin against them. You are guilty in that case of being a self-righteous judge. For if God, who is Holy and who has provided the perfect sacrifice in His son Jesus, can forgive you and your spouse, then what right do you have to fish out the past sins like some smelly fish and hold it in front of their nose? I know now is a great time to go fishing but do not go fishing in the sea of forgetfulness. Those fish are no good to eat and there is no fight left in them. Learn to forgive yourself as God has forgiven you, and do not hold past sins over the head of your spouse or another Christian. God has thrown them into the sea of forgetfulness. You should do likewise. God's attitude to sin is that He knows all sin, grieves over sin, and hates sin. Sin provokes God's anger, but GOD IS ALSO MERCIFUL AND GRACIOUS (Exodus 34:6-7 See also Nehemiah 9:17,31; Psalm 78:38; 103:8-14; Lamentations 3:22-23; MICAH 7:18-19; -- Micah 7:18-19 18Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. 19You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. Romans 11:32). Some of the above is from a sermon, titled: "Fully Forgiven Forever Forgotten" by Mark Aarssen
