Jesus said that no one has been to heaven save he who came from there. He also assured the criminal on the cross that he would be with him in paradise on the day he died. Does this suggest that paradise and heaven are different places?

My 2 cents...
I think paradise is a different place. Jesus told the criminal next to him on the cross that "this day, you will be with me in paradise. After we die, we Believers still have the Holy Spirit which does not die. Why would the Holy Spirit go to the grave? It makes sense to me that paradise is a place spirits sleep. When Christ comes back, he will gather the living earthly beings, the spirits on earth and then the spirits in the ocean. We will all be changed into glorified bodies.
