To stop the sin nature in man, he must repent for his sins, confess Jesus is the Son of God and be baptized for forgiveness of sins. After baptism he is born again. That is his spirt is born again.(john 3:5). He walks in newness of life.(2 Cor.5:17), (Rom.6::4) But if he does not show these new qualities in his life, then my opinion is, he has not understood baptism properly, and he has not received forgivenss of sins.(Rom.6:1-2)

In the scriptures, Jesus declares that" unless one is born again, he can not see the kingdom of God. Unless one is born of the water and of the spirit, he can not enter it."

The man is born again when he truly believes in Jesus Christ, and "a godly sorrow that worketh salvation, not to be repented of", and this is both the sovereign act of God, through His love offering the gift of repentance, and the right action of employing the "measure of faith" given to all men to believe [in] God enough to reach up and accept His hand of grace and mercy being extended toward sinful man.

Upon the obedience to the Holy Spirits conviction, (Acts 2) and true repentance, and having accepted the great gift of repentance, man can now "see" (scales falling from Saul's eyes), and take the next steps. Every one of you repent and be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins".

IT is ONLY in baptism that we are taught in the scriptures that 1.) we are buried in Christ, 2.) raised from the dead 3.) raised a new creation in Christ Jesus 4.) our sins are remembered (held against us) no more.

Baptism is essential. Most lack both the understanding of the clear word here, and call baptism an outward sign, of an inward change- wrong~ it is the very act of obedience to a divine command that brings about a supernatural experience the scriptures teach is "the circumcision of the heart, the operation of God (without hands- meaning a spiritual procedure done by God Himself

A Christian will never totally stop sinning totally in thought, word and deed. Jesus paid for our sins, past, present and future. The fact that you ask that question is proof that you're not comfortable with sin anymore. The more we renew our mind to the Word of God, the less we sin. We will never stop completely as long as we are in these death doomed bodies. However if we confess our sin, God is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanses us from all righteousness. This is not a license to engage in sin as a way of life.

The closer we get to God the less we will desire to follow the sinful dictates of our flesh. Let's fall more in love with Jesus.

Christians will never stop sinning completely because the flesh sins daily either in thought, word or deed. However, if we renew our minds daily with the Word of God, we will begin to think like our Father, God, and begin to sin less and less. Remember, your new born again spirit, created in the image and likeness of God, never sins. When your flesh sins it does not touch your Spirit. We are spirit, we possess a soul (mind, will and intellect), and we live in a body. The body is not who we are, it is the earth house for the Spirit and soul. Daily renew your mind to God's Word and you will begin to sin less.

Its simplicity
If you really, really ENJOY that particular sin that you are committing you CANNOT stop. However when what you are doing becomes distasteful even despicable to you, you will cry out to the Lord Jesus and he will deliver, trust me I know.

Some people continue sinning because they are not born again, are dead in their trespasses and sins and do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. They are commonly referred to as sinners.

Then there are those that have been born again by the Spirit of God and by the Spirit and water; having also received salvation by the Grace of God through faith in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the Bible they are called Saints, Believers or Brethren.

I assume that the question refers to the last group. This is an important and real issue for Christians, namely, ‘Why do Christians still sin after salvation?’

I believe the answer lies in Rom 7 and more so v23 - ‘But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin, which is in members.’ Paul clearly explains that there is a ‘law of sin in our members which brings us into captivity and causing us to sin’ When this happens it is fortunately not the end of the world to the Saint. God’s grace still avails for us and is there no condemnation for us who are in Christ Jesus because the ‘law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus’ makes us free from the law of sin and death. See Rom 8:1-2.
See also 1Jn 1:9 ‘If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us all our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Heb 2:25... Christ is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him and that He always lives to make intercession for us.
