In a nutshell,

Compassion is a feeling of pity or sorrow for the suffering or misfortune of another.

Mercy is the demonstration of restraint in imposing punishment upon someone under their power and authority. (I.E. God DOES NOT give us what we actually deserve).

Grace, what a wonderful word! The totally unmerited favor, loving kindness goodness and favor exhibited toward another. (I.E. God GAVE us what we do not deserve).

"For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
(Romans 5:6-8)
