Selva, you have asked a very intriguing question. I would be interested in your view because I do not see in all of Chapter 19, of Revelation, any place where it is implied that the Father descends to the earth.
In Rev. 19:13 it identifies Jesus, the Son, and in Rev. 19:15 it says that He, the Son, Himself, treads the winepress, in exclusion to the Father. So, I don't see the Father coming down to the earth.
This is a very interesting and tantalising question. I am thinking of the Holy Trinity and how they are all interconnected. God is the Father, Jesus The Son, and The Holy Spirit, the one who comes to abide. I am thinking that it is highly possible that all would be in Christ when He returns. In John chapter 5:26 "For as the Father has a life in Himself; so He has granted the Son also to have a life in Himself....vs . 30 By myself I can do nothing; I can only judge as I am told to judge...vs. 32 but there is another witness who speaks on my behalf."
Again John16:33, "And yet I am not alone, because The Father is with me..."
I would presume that as Jesus suffered on that cross, that The Comforter was with Him.
I think perhaps the humanly visible Jesus will have the other two parts of The Holy Trinity in Him.
Shirley,
Very interesting answer! One, I think, that is not fully understood by the Body of Christ.
Look at John 17:22-23. The Father is in Jesus, by virtue of the Father’s glory that was given to Jesus. Similarly, it is in all believers in order that they be made perfect. Does that mean we have the Father, in full, dwelling in us? Or, does the Father dwell within the Son, as a physiologically separate being? I think not, since we see Jesus, in heaven, sitting on the right hand of the Father (Heb. 8:1, 12:2) and taking the scroll from the Father in Rev. 5:1, 5:7.
God’s glory is given to us in the form of the Holy Spirit, which, I confess, is difficult to understand as the third member of the Trinity, but I’m beginning to make more sense of it. God’s glory is also His agape love, and it is in believers (in the form of the Holy Spirit) to make us all one as well (John 17:25-26). Thus, God’s agape love is equated to the Holy Spirit, and to His glory, which is His nature (Heb. 1:3). But to say that the Father dwells, physiologically, in Jesus as He, Jesus, comes to the earth, is stretching the point.
Isaiah 1:18
Craig and Shirley,
The Bible not only teaches the first and second comings of Jesus Christ to the earth, but also two comings of the Father:
Hint :
Daniel 7:9 speaks of Ancient of days!
This is God the Father, not Christ who is seen as a separate Person from the Ancient of days in Dan. 7:13-14. Both are seen as separate Persons by the same prophet and at the same place, so there must be at least two Persons in the Godhead. The fact is, there are three.
Selva,
I agree with the reference in Dan 7:9 to the Father as the Ancient of Days, and in Dan 7:22 the Father comes at a time when the ‘horn’ (the Antichrist) wages war with the saints (Dan 7:21). This is related to the Fourth Beast in Dan 7:19, which is the one world government, run by the Antichrist, yet to transpire. It will arise from the old Roman empire (teeth of iron and nails of bronze – from Daniel’s interpretation of King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Dan 2:36-39).
Dan 7:22 has the Father coming at a time when “judgment is passed in favor of the saints” (Dan 7:22 NKJV). This corresponds to the Rapture, which extricates the Church from the persecution by the Antichrist. It is what ends the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21-22) three and one half years after the Antichrist takes his seat in the rebuilt Temple and displays himself as God.
The Rapture is meeting only Jesus in the clouds (1 Thess. 4:16-17). In Dan 7:22, I can see where you could make the assumption that the Father came to the earth, but it has to be reconciled with the actual description of the Rapture in the NT.
Zechariah 14:3-4 has the Lord God setting His feet on the Mount of Olives, but this is descriptive of Armageddon during the Day of the Lord. It occurs some 30 months, to the best of my reckoning (7th Bowl – each bowl approximately 5 months) after the Rapture at the end of the Tribulation.
Isaiah 1:18
Craig, John 17:21 Jesus prayer, "May they all be one, just as, Father you are in Me, and I am in you..."
Colossians1:15-20 We have a mystery revealed. Christ is the image of the Unseen God. The visible appearance of God. God is an invisible Spirit. We worship in spirit and place our faith in Him.
Genesis 1:1 Jesus and the Spirit were also present, when and before the world was created. The Elohim is constantly revealing. The whole Bible is an unfolding flower. Genesis 1:26 "Let Us..."The trinity!
The Holy Spirit is a gift to believers. Jesus, the greatest believer of all, I am sure had the Spirit dwelling with Him. Now all three are together, and yet, The Spirit is with all believers. I can't explain that. I just accept it by faith.
God's Glory has many more aspects than I can fathom. It can be the external manifestation of His Being, it can be existent , and not visible as in John 15:5. Or it can be "seen" in miracles or theophanies.
Anyway, I think,no, know that anything is possible with God. If He, Jesus and the Holy Spirit want to return together They Will! What a thought!
I can't explain that. I just accept it by faith. Let us just stay in The Word, until we are in Glory.
