What do the thrones and elders represent in Revelation 4:4?

NKJV - 4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads.

I think these 24 thrones on which the elders are sitting is a symbol for the Church as a whole; who will be around God's Thrones at the time of His judgement. This is based on the notion of God' foreknowledge and eternal nature. He sees His Church already in place before Him. We will not see the Church as a whole until the latter times. It is a personal opinion.
