Antiochus, sought to interfere and suppress the Jewish religion by prohibiting the observance of religious festivals and other ordinances of the law. Papal power acknowledges the power and authority to change God's Law. The pope is of so great authority and power that he can modify, explain, or interpret even divine laws. The Catholic authorities also acknowledge changing The Law of God. His Ten Commandments. This is in the Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine.
