I'd say that all the evidence that we actually need is found in Christ. As John 3:16 says, God loved the entire world so much that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life (which is the greatest need of all of us). It was then that same Son who said that the hairs of our heads are all numbered (Matthew 10:30); that not even one sparrow dies without God's knowledge and permissive will (Matthew 10:29); and that if God feeds the birds and clothes even the lilies with greater beauty and glory than a king possesses, then He will surely provide for our needs if we seek Him and His righteousness before all things (Matthew 6:25-33). Also, I can't speak for anyone else, but, looking back over my own life, I can plainly see clear and repeated evidence of circumstances that were out of my control and that were far too numerous and too specific to my individual needs and situation to be simply chance or coincidence, that resulted in such fundamental life events as my specific vocation, being married to my intended spouse (my marriage to whom was also tied to that vocation), and being in the exact place and time to receive preparation for future events that would not have turned out successfully without that prior preparation.
I agree with Mr. Maas and would add that we are told God knows us, sees us, hears us and provides for us because he cares about us. The beautiful Psalm 139 says the Lord..."knows me... hems me in...[his] right hand holds me and guides me...[he] created me and knit me in my mother's womb...how precious are [his] thoughts about me (!)...they are more than the grains of the sand..." In Genesis 16:13, Hagar gives the Lord the name El Roi, "the Living One who sees me" because he provided water for her and her son Ishmael as they were dying from dehydration in the desert. Matthew 6:28-33 speaks of God's provision with clothes, food, drink...v 33b "all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 11:28 speaks of Jesus giving rest to the weary. My favorite verse to illustrate is one I learned in song as a kid: "cast your burdens *clap clap clap* onto Jesus *clap clap clap* 'cause He cares *clap clap clap* for you *clap clap clap* from 1 Peter 5:7. But truly, our greatest need is for a Savior, and thanks be to God, he provided that as well: see John 3:16 & John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it but to save the world through him; and Hebrews 7:26 Jesus is the high priest that truly meets our need-- one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. Be blessed!
