God has a purpose and plan for every human being he created. The bible is God’s revelation about himself and it’s the instruction manual for human life. Becoming familiar with the whole bible is the most important step. Through the bible we come to understand that God wants to have a personal relationship with us but our sin is blocking that relationship. Once we are willing to accept Jesus as our personal saviour, then God makes us into a brand new person, we become spiritually alive and we begin that relationship when the Holy Spirit comes to live within us. The next step is to invite Jesus Christ to become the Lord of this new life. Jesus wants to train and equip us to accomplish all that God has prepared for us to do. He does that as we walk with the Holy Spirit and he helps us understand God’s will for our lives. There are 5 general ways that God will tell us what he wants us to do: Commanding Scripture - the bible has many instructions and examples to show us how to live a God-pleasing life Compelling Spirit - the Holy Spirit will show us what the bible means and he may give us thoughts, emotions, dreams or visions to guide us. Counsel of the Saints - other mature Christians who we know and trust may have words of wisdom, instruction or encouragement to show us what God wants us to do. Common Sense - God has given us amazing thinking abilities to reason out what God wants us to do Circumstantial Signs - God may put opportunities in front of us that he wants us to pursue or he may close a door that is not his will for us. When we pray we are often asking questions or seeking guidance and understanding. God always responds by revealing his will. God has given human beings much freedom in making personal choices about the decisions of life - where to live, what career to pursue, what spouse to choose, what ministries to serve in the church. However, God does have a perfect will for every major decision we have to make in life. But he waits patiently to see if we will seek first his will in these matters or we will go our own way. God wants to use each one of us to build his kingdom on this earth, to bring his love and goodness to a lost and dying world. He also wants to mould and shape our character so we will emulate Jesus Christ - so we will think, feel, talk and walk like Jesus did. Fulfilling the will of God (doing what he wants us to do) is a lifelong process of discovery experienced through an intimate personal relationship with God. The result is the abundantly fulfilling and deeply satisfying life that Jesus promised us, then eternal life in the age to come. May God bless your desire and your journey.
I answer your question with a question: What is the one thing that you can give to someone who has everything? The answer is love, honor and respect. Part of this is giving thanks for everything “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of YHVH in the Messiah Yeshua concerning you.” — 1Ths 5:18 (RNKJV) That whole section of chapter 5 is very instructive (vs; 14 through 24) but verse 18 actually states that this is the will of GOD. So give GOD thanks, for he saved you, not by your works or deeds, but because he loved you first. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of YHVH:” — Eph 2:8 (RNKJV) The will of GOD is for you to give him thanks. Ps 97 (RNKJV) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¹⁰ Ye that love YHVH, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. ¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. ¹² Rejoice in YHVH, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
