In these words (found in Galatians 6:8), Paul is using an agricultural metaphor to describe Christians sowing (planting) "good seed" by allowing their decisions or actions to be guided (through the power of the Holy Spirit) by the objective of obeying and pleasing God (in the same way that a farmer sows seed in a field), rather than sowing "bad seed" by gratifying their own earthly desires or appetites for goals such as wealth, power, or lust which (as a result of sin) are in conflict with God.

As Paul says, those who "sow to the Spirit" by allowing Him to guide and control their actions through loving and serving God and others will reap a reward (eternal life), while those who focus on satisfying only their own sinful fleshly nature will finally reap destruction and death (things that will pass away or be destroyed, even if they may seem to provide transient pleasure or happiness).
