What are our secret sins? (Psalm 90:8)

8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

But see also Psalm 90:7-12 to discover the context.

I would say that our secret sins are things that we have done, said, or thought that we know (or knew) to be wrong, but of which no one else knows; or that we have not revealed to anyone else, and would not be willing to confess to any other person on earth, or want them to know about; or that we have deliberately (and, we believe, successfully) concealed from others; or that we ourselves have repressed or chosen to forget, and may no longer even be conscious of. However, as noted in Psalm 90:8, they are all fully known to God.

I would refer you to Psalm 19:12, "Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from my secret faults." When we consider God in His perfection, we see how we can never even begin to think of comparing ourselves to Him. He made us, He knows things we will never even think of in connection to ourselves...

Another point is in Psalm 50:21, "These things you have done, and I have kept silent; you thought that I was altogether like you; but I will rebuke you, and set them in order before you." As humans, we think that if we don't tell God,He doesn't know. But, He knows. We are only kidding ourselves. He knows our hearts! There is no such thing as a secret.

Only God can keep secrets. Deuteronomy 29:29, "The secret things belong to our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law."

We have His revelation in His love letter called The Bible. May all study His word!
