When does the Holy Spirit enter a person's life?

When does the Holy Spirit enter a person's life? At that very moment of repentance and conversion, or after that person repents and after being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, as in Acts 2 v 38?

Matthew 28:19

ESV - 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit enters a person's life either at the time of "conversion" or before that. Before the Spirit enters a person, they are dead in sin (Ephesians 2:1). A dead person cannot do anything, so they will not repent and can not repent. The Holy Spirit may enter a person well before they have some sort of "conversion" experience, convicting that person of their sinfulness so they will turn to God, or He may enter a person who will immediately recognize their lost state and turn to God. To add some other requirement would mean something is needed other than the working of God, that Christ's sacrifice was not sufficient.
