ESV - 1 In the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and built Ramah, that he might permit no one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah. 2 Then Asa took silver and gold from the treasures of the house of the Lord and the king's house and sent them to Ben-hadad king of Syria, who lived in Damascus, saying.

Read the verse closely. It says that he "did not seek the LORD...". There is nothing in scripture saying we should not seek the help of doctors. In fact, Paul tells Timothy "Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities." Wine was seen as having medicinal value, so he was telling Timothy to use the medicine that was available at that time. I think of J. Vernon McGee when he had cancer. He said he sought prayers and found the best doctor he could. (that is not a direct quote, but it gives the gist of what I can remember him saying on the radio). Asa's sin was not that he was seeking the aid of doctors, but that he rejected the Lord.
