In my opinion, she did this to lull Sisera into a false sense of security by showing him the hospitality normally extended to a guest, and, in fact, giving him more than he had requested (milk instead of water, and also curds in a "lordly dish" (which I take to mean a large amount) -- both perhaps with the intent of causing drowsiness -- as well as covering him with a blanket). As a result, he fell into a deep sleep with no sense of being in danger, which allowed her to kill him. (I do not believe that there was any "spiking" of either the milk or the curds with a substance that would have been designed to induce unconsciousness.)

Jael brought milk because milk can make you relax. For example if a baby is crying they give her milk and after that the baby sleeps. The milk made him relax both in the mind and in spirit.

Milk was part of the basic diet of the Hebrews from the epoch of the patriarchs when there was an abundance of milk (Isaiah 7:22).

Isaiah 7:22 in the context of
"The Sign of Immanuel," says,

"and because of the abundance of milk that they give, he will eat curds, for everyone who is left in the land will eat curds and honey."
