The Tabernacle made by Moses after the patterns shown him of heavenly things (Heb. 8:5; 9:23-24) represents a beautiful portrait.

The first veil separated the holy place from the tabernacle court and prevented the people from looking into the holy place (Ex. 26:31-37).

A second veil separated the holy place from the most holy place or holy of holies.

There is sunlight in the outer court, candlelight in the inner court and no light in the innermost place or the Holy of Holies.

One cannot walk by sight but only by faith in the All Holy Place (2 Cor 5:7).

A box or chest about 3 x 3 x 5 feet in which were the golden pot of manna (Heb. 9:4; Ex. 16:32-34), Aaron's rod that budded (Num. 17), and the tables of the covenant--two stones on which were written the Ten Commandments (2Cor. 3:3,7 Ex. 25:16). The golden censor (Lev. 16:12) appears to have been left in the holy of holies with the ark.

And over the ark of covenant, there are cherubims of glory shadowing the mercy seat. This describes the lid to the ark of the covenant (Ex. 25:10-22). Two cherubim, one on each end of the lid stretched forth their wings to touch each other over the mercy-seat which typified God's throne and the divine presence (Ex. 25:18-22).

The high priest of the law could go only once a year into the holiest place on earth, but by the blood of Christ the least saint can have daily access to the holiest place in heaven.

Four ways to draw near to the mercy seat:

1. By boldness (Heb. 10:19; 4:14-16)
2. By the blood of Jesus (Heb. 10:19)
3. By a new and living way (Heb. 10:20)
4. By the high priesthood of Christ (Heb. 10:21)
