Isaiah 9:6

ESV - 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

The apostle Paul declares how Jesus is the prince of peace in Colossians 1:19-23.

"For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant."

The apostle Paul also affirms that Jesus is the Prince of Peace because he has given us the Holy Spirit to enable us to live a life of peace. The Holy Spirit produces "peace" in our lives as explained in Galatians 5:17-18; 22-25.

"So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit."

The apostle John also shows us how Jesus is the Prince of Peace in the book of Revelation. In Revelation chapters 20 to 22 we learn that at Jesus second coming he will defeat and destroy all evil and wickedness from the earth. Every human being, dead and alive, will be judged by God and everyone whose name is not written in the Lamb's book of life will be sentenced to eternal punishment in hell. Jesus will resurrect every believer and give us a new glorious eternal body that will be free from sin. We will all celebrate the Marriage Feast of the Lamb. We will live for eternity in the new heaven and earth that Jesus will create with God our Father living with us forever. In this new world there will be no sin, no death, no weeping or crying or mourning or pain; there will only be eternal peace.

He's set to conquer our ancient foe.
In Hebrew he is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer)” (Revelation 9:11).

A hymn says,

"Apollyon is their king, we know,
And Satan is their god."

Compare what Jesus said in John 10:10, "The thief cometh not but for to kill, to steal, and to DESTROY. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

We only experience Jesus as the Prince of Peace now through submission to our Prince, our King.

Another hymn says,

"May Thy will, not mine, be done;
May Thy will and mine be one;
Chase these doubtings from my heart,
Now Thy perfect peace impart." (Isaiah 26:3 says,

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

Thank God for his strength and peace (Isaiah 26:1-6) Is 26:4 says, "Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength."

This title in Isaiah 9:6 pictures the king as one who establishes a safe socio-economic environment for his people. It hardly depicts him as a meek individual.

This is not the meek and mild Jesus now. Or at least He won't be when He comes back! Christ's second coming is prophesied in Isaiah 9:3-5, 7 where He ushers in universal peace and rules the world in righteousness.

In His first coming Jesus made peace through the blood of His cross --

Good News Translation
"...God made peace through his Son's blood on the cross..." (Colossians 1:20).

And so Jesus is our Peace--New International Version
"For he himself is our peace" (Ephesians 2:14).

And in Isaiah 9:6 [NET] He will be establishing peace through military strength (as the preceding context and the first two royal titles indicate, e.g. "Extraordinary Strategist,  Mighty God,"). His people experience safety and prosperity because their Invincible King destroys their enemies. See Ps 72 and Ps 144 for parallels to these themes.
