How does God show us all the fine details so we can build the life he has planned for us?

How do we discover all the detailed plans and the resources we need to build a life, where God's presence dwells, and that reveals Jesus to the world?

Exodus 25:9 (NIV)
Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.

Exodus 25:9

ESV - 9 Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.

The Old Testament Law that God gave to Israel through Moses was every bit as detailed with respect to human conduct as the plans that He specified for the building of the tabernacle referenced in the question. And the Law was subsequently made even more detailed and onerous through the weight of customs and traditions that were later added by humans (and that Jesus condemned). (As Jesus said, the entire Law could be summarized in two commandments: to love God with all one's heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself.)

Christ's perfect fulfillment of the Law through His sinless life, followed by His atoning death to pay the penalty owed by all of humanity for not keeping the Law, and His subsequent resurrection, did away with that impossible legalism, replacing it with faith in Christ's finished work of redemption for forgiveness of sin and the granting of eternal life in God's presence, which is the gospel ("good news") that Christians can and should joyfully share with others.

As Paul said in Galatians 5:1 in reference to Christians' no longer being required to perfectly observe the Law in order to be saved, "It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery."

However, aside from witnessing to others regarding our faith as one of the components of "building" our new life in Christ, the Law (especially as summarized by Christ) still remains as a valid eternal standard that God has provided with respect to the "fine details" of His expectations for human conduct, and that Christians can still use to judge any situation or contingency that confronts them as far as a proper course of action to be followed -- not in order to be saved, but to become continually more Christlike.

Also, in addition to familiarity with the Bible, Christians should remain alert and responsive to ways in which God may be speaking to them through life events concerning directions in which He may want them to go.
