What does Psalm 119 say about revival?

There are other verses in Psalm 119 that refer to revival as well, I'm sure.

Psalms 119:153 - 160

ESV - 153 Look on my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget your law. 154 Plead my cause and redeem me; give me life according to your promise!

By my count, there are eleven separate verses in Psalm 119 in which the psalmist asks God to revive him, as follows:

Psalm 119:25
Psalm 119:37
Psalm 119:40
Psalm 119:50
Psalm 119:88
Psalm 119:93
Psalm 119:107
Psalm 119:149
Psalm 119:154 (as cited in the question)
Psalm 119:156
Psalm 119:159

In connection with two of the above verses (Psalm 119:50 and Psalm 119:93), the psalmist also indicates the manner or means by which God had already provided that revival.

(Some translations of the psalm express the idea being conveyed as requests from the psalmist to preserve his life. To me, this indicates a lesser degree of needed action, since the psalmist is already spiritually alive, and does not need to be revived, but instead sustained and strengthened in his current condition.)

All of these instances indicate recognition by the psalmist of the necessity of God's aid or involvement, as well as of His grace and mercy, in fulfilling the psalmist's request.

Here is what I gleaned from the Net Bible:

Psa 119:25
ד (Dalet) I collapse in the dirt. Revive me with your word!

Compare Isaiah 57:15: For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones."

Psa 119:37
Turn my eyes away from what is worthless! 1 Revive me with your word!
Psa 119:40
Look, I long for your precepts. Revive me with your deliverance!
Psa 119:50
This is what comforts me in my trouble, for your promise revives me.
Psa 119:88
Revive me with your loyal love, that I might keep the rules you have revealed.
Psa 119:93
I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have revived me.
Psa 119:107
I am suffering terribly. O LORD, revive me with your word!
Psa 119:149
Listen to me because of 2 your loyal love! O LORD, revive me, as you typically do!
Psa 119:154
Fight for me 1 and defend me! Revive me with your word!
Psa 119:156
Your compassion is great, O LORD. Revive me, as you typically do!
Psa 119:159
See how I love your precepts! O LORD, revive me with your loyal love!

"When we think we are 'down and out,' the Word will revive us and get us back on our feet” (Ps 119:25, 37, 40, 88, 107, 149, 154, 156, 159).

Seeking God means much more than reading the Bible or even studying the Bible. It means hearing God’s voice in His Word, loving Him more, and wanting to delight His heart and please Him. It means wholehearted surrender to Him (Ps 119:2, 10, 34, 58, 69, 145) and an unwillingness to permit any rival love to enter. All of the psalms make it clear that this kind of life is not without its dangers and disappointments, for we often fail. The writer of this psalm found himself in the dust and had to cry out for 'reviving' (Ps 119: 25, 37, 40, 50, 88, 93, 107, 149, 154, 156, 159 NKJV). Once he had done that, he confessed his sins, got up, and started walking with God again. The victorious Christian life is a series of new beginnings." —Wiersbe
