What can we learn from the story of the handwriting on the wall?

Daniel 5:1 - 31

ESV - 1 King Belshazzar made a great feast for a thousand of his lords and drank wine in front of the thousand. 2 Belshazzar, when he tasted the wine, commanded that the vessels of gold and of silver that Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the temple in Jerusalem be brought, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them.

Daniel 5:5: In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

Every child of God’s creation today goes through trials and tribulations being given the discernment of good and evil to choose. Many a time we fail to discern ourselves in the right spirit, for we look out to be given praise for the wisdom and knowledge and the works of our hands which are the graven images. (Isa 42:8/48:11) For the ones who look out to be given praises, he is led by his heart to be lifted up, which then leads his mind to be hardened in pride. (Dan 5:20)

The Father in heaven numbers the works of our hands and weighs them in a balance and then divides the portion. (Dan 5:26-28) Daniel had the right discernment given to him by the Lord God, for he looked not for the gifts and rewards of men with praises. (Dan 5:17) Just as our Lord Jesus who went up to the mountain and great company that came when the Passover was nigh, He fed them and then departed again into a mountain himself alone, for He knew then they would come and take Him by force to make him a king. (John 6:3-4,15)

Elisha, having the mantle of Elijah did signs and wonders, for it was the hand of the Lord that came upon him. (2 Kings 2:14/3:15) For in the right wisdom of knowledge and understanding from his heart as written by the Lord in his heart, knowing the signs and wonders that he would do to the humble, by the works of God the Father, he would pray without ceasing and not losing FAITH in God. (2 Kings 4:33-35,42-43)

Jeremiah 31:33: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; "After those days," saith the Lord, "I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people."
