What would you say to a husband who says that based on Proverbs 31:11, he should not have to bring any money into the marriage and his wife should be the only breadwinner and should pay their whole cost of living?

Genesis 2:15: "And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it."

Genesis 2:18: "And the Lord God said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.'"

Woman is man's complement. She is his completion. His mirror image. Inside and outside.

Ezer K'enegdo - help meet in Hebrew.
Ezer = to rescue, to save
K'enegdo = means to be strong
Neged = means against, exactly corresponding to

Woman is the completion of man. They were made to fit together in every way. Physically, emotionally, every way.

We are equal, yet different in our strengths. Neither is complete without Christ.

But notice man was given the garden to tend. He is to work. Women have other work.

Ephesians 5:25: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church, and gave Himself for it."

1 Timothy 5:8: "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

This is the work of "a good minister of Jesus Christ."

A man's family is to be provided for and protected by the man of the house.

Proverbs 23:24: "The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice; and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him."

He is to be an example following Christ.

I would say, “Give onto Cesar what is due.” Sounds like a malipulated excuse not to work. So just what is he really doing? There’s nothing worse than some people using God for their own selfishness.
