I would say that it would be because they regard Jesus as a mere man or human being, who would therefore not be worthy of the worship that should be reserved for God alone. Anyone who gave Him such worship would therefore (in their view) be committing idolatry (John 9). However, although Jesus WAS truly and fully human (except for the fact that He was without sin), He was also truly and fully God. The unique nature of His conception (as found in Luke 1:26-38) accounts for this.
