The fear (that is, reverential awe and respect) of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom (as distinguished from knowledge) because it serves as the basis for an overall world view that is not centered on transient human concerns, but on spiritual priorities that never lose their validity, and that will determine our eternal status once our brief temporal lives on earth have ended.
