The discussion of pride in the short book Mere Christianity by the English Christian apologist C. S. Lewis has always been very helpful to me in dealing with this subject. It can be found in Book III, Chapter 8 of the book at the following link:

Being proud of our accomplishments IS ALWAYS a wrong way for us to ACT; feeling proud is automatic, and is also not a good thing. We can't help how we feel. Christians will try to fool themselves into believing that they are truly humble, but they only fool themselves. There's no way for flesh to humble itself.
The way we act when we are successful is what we're to try to control. So no, we shouldn't be proud of anything we do. All of our good gifts come from God. Without him we can do nothing. God should be glorified in all situations and circumstances.
You either believe in God or you can believe in yourself. I know we're raised to have confidence in ourselves. I know it sounds reasonable. It is, if we can keep the right perspective of God's contribution to us. If we do, we can tell that we were the recipients of God's grace. That helps us to maintain a level of humility.
Danny, you are so right! Human labor is futile apart from God.
(Psalm 127:1 --
"Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain."
