Psalm 2 is focused on the coming glorious reign of the Lord's Messiah.

The Lord refers to the Father, God. The Son is His annointed. The kings of earth will attempt to withstand the King of the universe.

The future role of the Royal Son will be absolute. There will be no rebellion.

"Kiss the Son" offers a clear choice to the earthly kings and all the people. The choice is theirs. They can love and respect the Lord's annointed, and so receive His great blessing. If they chose to refuse submission, they will incur God's wrath.

That's why in verses 4 and 5, it says God laughs scornfully at an attack on His Son. The idea of refusing God's will is totally preposterous!
