Firstly, that was Jesus. He laid His hands on people to heal. He had all the power in heaven and earth to do so. In the Book of Acts, it is recorded when people believed the Apostles and other disciples of Jesus would lay hands and pray. “Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit” (Acts 8:17)... There is no mandate to lay hands on other believers in the Bible. In fact, the Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy, “Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, nor take part in the sins of others; keep yourself pure” (1 Timothy 5:22). It is to be done cautiously, especially for ordination into a position within the church. It is a spiritual affirmation, and one that activates the Holy Spirit, and is a testimony to the entire church body, globally, of this person’s character. https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-study/topical-studies/why-is-the-laying-on-of-hands-so-significant.html#:~:text=In%20the%20Book%20of%20Acts,(Acts%208%3A17). As with everything through prayer and guidance we must proceed with caution and fear. The last thing we want to do is to dishonor God, and grieve the Holy Spirit. Everything is to be done with bringing God glory as our chieftest aim.
