There has been a lot of speculation on the creation and lots of different theories and views. We can't know what God doesn't tell and He told us all we need to know on everything.
However, the Bible can be difficult at times and we as humans sometimes wish to know what is unknown to us. If The Bible was like "Jack and Jill Went Up the Hill", it wouldn't hold our attention for very long. We can study and re-study and it never gets old because we are constantly discovering new things that we just read right over the first dozen times and then something clicks and we gain new or maybe even a different understanding of some subject.
A different view of this creation subject might be worth considering. I've been reading a book named The Lost World of Genesis One: Ancient Cosmology and the Origins Debate by John Walton and find it fascinating. You may find it very interesting as well. Not saying that I've accepted the view of the author, but he makes a very good and difficult view to disagree with. Also may help us have a greater appreciation of the knowledge and customs of those God wrote it to. The Kindle version is about $9.39 on Amazon.com
