In my opinion, the writer is not recommending unbridled hedonism, but the purposeful and thankful enjoyment of those blessings that God has provided, without allowing one's mind to become unduly burdened by thoughts of the transitory nature of this life and of worldly pursuits that will end at death, yielding no eternal benefit.

No. Hedonism is not recommended. God desires us to enjoy this gift that we have called life.

However, we are to always put God above all. This life is but a mist. We are here for a very short time. Then, the reality of the unseen world replaces this materialistic world.

In other words, what we see is not all there is. The unseen realm is the reality.
