Although "holy" is often regarded as a synonym for "sinless" (and thus an impossibility in this life), it can also mean something that is consecrated, or "set apart". In that respect, believers are to live in a manner that does not conform to the practices of sinful humanity, and that thus causes others to note that they are "different" in a positive sense, and want to be like them. The main manner in which this can be done is through love toward God and toward others in our hearts, words, and deeds, which Jesus called the greatest commandments in the Law (Matthew 22:34-40; Mark 12:28-34; Luke 10:25-37).

For Father God to tell us to be Holy means He has given us the way. In the old testament atonement came via the sacrifice of animals and this was a continuous, labour-intensive task. The priest, especially during the Day of Atonement, had to atone for self then the people thereafter. The people held their breath literally that the sacrifice will be accepted. Enter the spotless Lamb of God who died once and for all. Hence we can receive the Atonement of sin (ie holiness) through the perfect sacrifice. Priests in the old testament gave burnt offerings and free will offerings amongst others, though these were the most common. Burnt offerings belonged to God and were burnt full to Him twice daily, morning and evening. Hence to live a holy life we must: 1. Repent daily (offering a burnt offering) 2. Worship and give thanks daily (offering a free will offering) Another category is taking Holy communion, too. We're encouraged to do so as often as possible, even alone at home. Doing so, one ensures that they watch and cleanse their garments and hence are in a holy state thanks to the cleansing blood of Jesus.

At its core, a holy life is a life that belongs to God. It is a daily choice to walk with Him, listen to Him, and let His purity shape your path. It is simple and transformative—allowing God to make you more like Christ, one decision at a time.
