How should a believer respond when they’re attacked by slander or false accusations, especially when the 'tongue feels like a sword' as described in Psalms 31, 64, and 140?

Psalm 31:20 You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
From the plots of man;
You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion
From the strife of tongues.

Psalms 64:2-4 English Standard Version (ESV)
Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the throng of evildoers, who whet their tongues like swords, who aim bitter words like arrows, shooting from ambush at the blameless, shooting at him suddenly and without fear.

 Psalm 140:1-3 (ESV)
“Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men… who plan evil things in their heart and stir up wars continually. They make their tongue sharp as a serpent's, and under their lips is the venom of asps.”
