If a person were using this answer as an example of what Christians believe, they would probably think that Christians were crazy.
The explanation of this "war" seems like something out of a George Lucas film.; 3 heavens and a battle in the middle heaven and suffering in the lowest heaven (earth) while God watches from the highest heaven like a spectator.
I, personally, believe that Revelation is allegory. All of these beasts with grotesque appendages and divine women wearing the sun standing on the moon. These images would scare everyone. Yep, a CGI movie. Sorry, God is not like that.
Our understanding of Christ is not based on any of these events in Revelation. The Bible enhances our understanding of God and gives a history of God's people. The New Testament gospels give us an understanding of Jesus' ministry on earth and the gospel of John gives us insight into the divinity of Christ. Paul's and other writers' letters give us instruction as to how to live and maintain a Christian life and help us understand what Jesus does for those who believe in Him.
There is hidden meaning in Revelation. It is difficult to explain and I can't certainly can't do it. It isn't a sci-fi film nor is it a fantasy novel. Try to glean these references as a lesson in your Christian walk and plod on.
