What should believers think and do when they suffer?
2 Corinthians 4:1 - 18
KJV - 1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not. 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

As believers when we are faced with adverse situations or suffering in this present age, we should think on and do what the scriptures encourage us to do. As Christians, we should not be discouraged by suffering, because there's hope and the Lord Jesus is being glorified! We can look forward to the resurrection of the righteous; and because the message of grace is being spread to many, it will cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. We should not lose heart (faint) or give up, even though our bodies are dead because of sin, we have hope that the inward man is being renewed day by day. Please see Romans 8:10. We should be encouraged to know that what we suffer in this life is considered as a light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Our focus should be on eternal things, as opposed to things that are temporal. Here are additional verses that we should think on and do: Philippians 4:8, " Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy --- meditate on these things." Taken from the NKJV and summarized for the lengthiness of the verse. 1Thessalonians 5:18: "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." And lastly, James 1:2-4: "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."
