They are tribulation martyrs and survivors. When John asks who they are, the elder answers plainly: “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation” (Rev. 7:14). Some were killed for their faith (Rev. 6:9-11). Others likely endured persecution and hardship but remained faithful. At Dallas Theological Seminary, when I was a student, I had to buy and read John F. Walvoord's book, The Revelation of Jesus Christ, for a class on Daniel and Revelation, as I recall 50+ years ago now. This is his view: Walvoord identifies the great multitude as Gentile believers converted during the tribulation period, many of whom are martyred, while others survive to the end. C. Austin Miles (1905) then wrote this hymn:m "Look for Me!" 1. When you get to Heaven, as you surely will, If the Savior’s name you own, After you have greeted those you love the best, Who are standing round the throne— Refrain You may look for me, for I’ll be there, I’ll be there, I’ll be there! You may look for me, for I’ll be there! Glory to His name! 2. When you roam with friends across the heav’nly fields, Ever finding treasures new; When you stand in rapture on some starry height, Gazing on some glorious view— [Refrain] 3. When you hear them singing, round the great white throne, Songs of praise unto the Lamb; When you hear the ransomed, with their harps of gold, Shouting, "Glory to His name!"— [Refrain] 4. When you kneel in worship to the King of kings, Who has saved you by His grace; When you see that Savior who has brought you there, And with joy behold His face— [Refrain]

This multitude I believe will consist of all who believe in Jesus. Romans 11:25-27: "For I do not desire brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins." See Revelation 3:5 18 Revelation 4:4 Revelation 6:11 John 8:13, the Pharisees said to Jesus, "You bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not true." John 8:14: "Jesus answered and said to them, 'Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going.'"
