Trinity Sunday services are also often marked by the reading of the Athanasian Creed, which (due to its length) is typically incorporated in worship only on that day (in comparison to the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed, which are used far more often). The Athanasian Creed is attributed to Athansius of Alexandria in Egypt, who was born between AD 296 and 298, and died in AD 373. This creed was written as a statement and defense of the doctrine of the Trinity, and as a rebuttal against Arianism (a heretical teaching that denied the divinity of Christ, and said that the Son was not co-eternal or co-substantial with God the Father, but had been created by Him).
