As we live in the secular world, living for worldly things, we do not recognize or accept the Lord's offerings. When we physically die, our life is over, and we must and will stand before the Lord in judgment. Now, as a believer in Christ and having accepted Him into our lives, we try to be like Him and reject the secular world trappings and the selfish life of living for ourselves. We give up that old life for the new one in Christ. We are dead in Christ now, and we live for Him, not for ourselves. We have died in the spiritual realm and are no longer bound by the sinful trappings. We are in the arms of the Savior and have a new life in Him. Hence, the old saying, non-believers die once, and believers die twice. Read Galatians 2:20, Romans 6:6, and 2 Corinthians 5:17.
