I go along with the great parliamentarian Edmund Burke who said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” I believe that and so think Christians should be rulers as much as possible. Its basic, Proverbs 29:2 "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bare rule, the people mourn."
Whether or not Christians should run for political office is one of those "hot-button" issues that provoke strong responses on both sides of the question. There are no direct references in the Bibl...

Why not? It only depends on your calling. If a Christian can't go for politics because they are Christian, who should not be a Christian? Should politicians be categorically classified as not fit to be Christian? Politics has been there right from the time God created the earth. Should we be tempted to believe there is another version of the creation order of the earth other than the one stipulated in the Holy Bible? The Biblical version is so clear that GOD created and placed man over all other creatures, He placed man over woman, isn't that politics? However though, the role of politics should be more of leadership other than one simply placing themselves over and above others. We human beings have simply made politics look ugly because we simply feel sweet using it to overshadow others, suppressing them in place of leading them. Our Lord Jesus the CHRIST led us to the better life of salvation by simply teaching us, with no use of force. A leader's key role is to get people to a better life. Politics should be about this. What is politics in this sense? I believe politics is the management of people and ensuring sustainability of the surroundings for the improvement of human life. Leaders should manage people for the betterment of their (people's) lives. If a Christian would apply the Biblical principles of leadership, politics is never a no go zone for Christians who have been called to be so.
I believe we should have Christians at all levels of government to protect our rights as Christians. Fifty years ago everyone just accepted that their representatives were Christian and one who wasn't was thought to be a miscreant but nowadays its rapidly going the other way. Now we have state funded abortions, gay marriage, no prayer or pledge of allegiance in most schools and Christians are called bigots because we tell the truth that Jesus is the only way to have eternal life. How much faster would those things have happened if we didn't have Christian representation? We are being attacked for our beliefs now more than ever before and we absolutely need Christian government officials to protect and defend our right to believe in the one true God.
it's the Lord who rules the Kingdoms of the world and he appoints the "leaders" of this world, and he does it for good reasons that we may not understand... Dan 4:17, John 19:11, Eze 29:19, 20 1 Sam 2:8, Prov 8:15, 16 Acts 17:26, Ezra 1:2, Rom 9:17 Yes we may vote and or run for election but it's the Lord who decides... {Pro 16:33 NLT} {33} We may throw the dice, but the LORD determines how they fall. Praise God!
The Bible has a very definite answer referring to worldly affairs, which politics is part of, and whether or not a Christian should be involved. Among several verses throughout the Scriptures, there is a particular one that comes to mind, and it is found in the 2nd Epistle to Timothy from Paul. Paul explains that anyone who's been "hired" to be a servant and soldier of God, there is no way for such a person to be - and there is a great verb that Paul uses in the KJV Bible - "entangled" in affairs of this life. If you are, you most likely are not following God's will, but your own human fleshly desires. Whatever is of this world, being under the rule of the "prince of the air" - the Devil, is not what God wants you to be in. For this world is temporary and it will pass away. 1 Corinthians 7:31 - "and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away." We are but aliens on this earth, waiting for what is ahead of us and what Jesus ministered to us during his earthly ministry - The Kingdom of God. Philippians 3:20 - "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ," (ESV) And here is Paul's verse itself to Timothy: 2 Timothy 2:4 - "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier." (KJV) Notice the beginning of the sentence that caries most of the weight: "No man..." No man means nobody. Nobody can please God involved (entangled) in affairs of this life. I think that is a pretty clear statement. And there are many other implications related to somebody desiring to be in politics that can lead to "division among the brethren". Christians suppose to "be of one mind" (1 Peter 3:8), and strive towards one direction - Heaven and The Kingdom of God here on Earth. As citizens of The Kingdom, our Government is from Heaven, our Governor is Jesus Christ: 1 Corinthians 15:24-25 "Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet." (KJV)
