Future will answer to this question. Until Tycho Brahe, Galilei and Copernikus the flat Earth was correct morally and scientifically. As there are various christian beliefs, the views are vastly different on ET or life forms. Science is advancing rapidly. Four decades ago we never heard of cell phones, internet, or exo planets. Modern science start to question the speed of light as ultimate speed in the universe. Just think about the tunneling effect. Then, I am confident, men will find life on another planets. Science doesn't rely on rigid ideas, will update itself when needed.
My father used to tell us that the angels could be aliens. He has his reasons for those beliefs. Personally, I do not believe in aliens. I do not understand how they would impact life and Salvation.
Yes or no... God's creation is STILL GOD'S creation. The universe is the Lord's and all therein.
I personally do not believe in aliens. I believe the bible paints a picture of an earth very different to that which is presented to us. Being completely open I believe the bible says we live on broad plain that is enclosed (firmament) to hold out the waters spoken of in the genesis creation taught by Moses. The bible also says the earth is set on pillars and is fixed and immovable. I know it’s not exactly biblical for all of us (unless you have a bible with an apocrypha) but the book of Enoch mentions seven wondering stars in the heavens. Well when you look up the etymology (root meaning/original meaning) of the word planet it you will find planet means ‘wondering star’.
Now whether we all accept the book of Enoch or not I find it very significant that planet means wondering star. Mainstream science (evolution, heliocentrism, Big Bang) do not agree with the bible at all and are, in my humble opinion, a perpetrated lie to stop people believing in our Father in heaven, our creator. The bible makes no mention of other ‘planets’ (I do not consider earth to be a planet either by definition of the meaning of the word). Genesis mentions the creation of the heavens and earth, The firmament, the sun, the moon, the stars, all the little animals and humans but no planets or other galaxies. So biblically there is nowhere for aliens to come from. My opinion is that aliens/UFO’s are a cover up for many things including signs and wonders in the heavens, military movements and last but most significant to your question demonic activity. I believe anything that is presented as truly alien can only be demonic or an out right lie.
When we actually conceive of a firmament that can hold out waters from right across the earth it becomes inconceivable to think anything other than things from the spiritual realm can transit through it. I know my answer may seem wacky but I do believe it is biblically based and shows that there isn’t scope within the truth and word God has given us to allow our minds to believe in aliens. I hope I’ve been of some help. Pure blessings brother and blessings to all that this may touch! ALL GLORY TO OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.
If, in the future, we do discover other intelligent life forms on other planets, be they hostile or friendly, will that negate the assertions in Scripture? I find the question fascinating and worthy of discussion.
In answering the question, Mr. Houdmann (gotquestions.org) states that according to Scripture, ours is the only intelligent life form in any universe or galaxy. Very bold assertion, but, yes, grounded in Scripture. But given what we know today of the vastness of the billions of galaxies and planets, it would be mathematically possible for another intelligent life form to exist.
I don't think it would negate any Scripture should we discover another intelligent life form. I think we would need to interpret Scripture in a whole new way. God is still God, regardless of our discoveries. IMHO.
I would like to thank Stuart Williams for his response to this question; it is absolutely beautiful! I have been searching for a straightforward answer to the alien theory and his words are exactly how I feel but did not know how to express it. I have a friend with a podcast that totally believes in aliens and ufos; I have been trying to get across to him that it is impossible for them to exist, but, he is dead set on his opinion that they do. I hope Stuart does not mind, but I am going to email his wisdom to my friend.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Stuart, for your words of wisdom and strength. If you truly believe in God and his creation, you can't possibly believe in anything outside of His stationary, protected Earth. God bless!
I don't think the people who insist that there is other "intelligent" life forms somewhere in the world, necessarily think that discovery will prove the scriptures are fake. I've had conversations with people who think like that; they are people who could have been cartoonists or video game designers. They have very active imaginations. I think that's a good thing. I've never cared anything for video games, but I'm in the waning years of my sixties and I still like a good cartoon.
Some think that if the world keeps spinning, we'll eventually come into contact with another intelligent life form. They talk as if it's inevitable, as if God is bringing us to such an event. (I don't hold conversations with the ones who say they don't believe in God; I think people who say that are lying; I don't see the point of trying to discuss anything intelligently with people who have trouble being truthful. Everybody, according to Romans 1, knows God is real. It says, "they exchanged the truth about God for a lie..." (vs 25). They, "didn't see fit to acknowledge God.." (vs 28). They "know God's righteous decree.." (vs 32)).
They know the truth and deny it in favor of a lie; choose to deny God's existence; are willing to suffer the consequences. This is different from wanting there to be other life forms different from who we are.
I think I get it. If they can prove we don't know the whole story, then "Hell" might be disproved. I truly believe it's the real reason for most of it.
They want some kind of conclusive evidence TO BE DISCOVERED (extraterrestrials will do nicely), that will erase the threat of being dumped into a hell hole that doesn't have an exit. Hell is probably the reason for a lot of the denial that exists in the world. People can't wrap their minds around the idea of a loving Father that will endorse such a thing; they have a point.
Eternal torment in a place called Hell, I believe, is the reason for much of the bible bashing that goes on in the "christian world."
Christianity tells of the greatest offer anyone can ever receive: it says, 'whether you confess it, deny it or do a little of both, you're guilty of charges for which you can't get out of paying, and you don't have access to the acceptable payment. (You ain't got what the lienholder on your life requires). So he decided to pay it for those whom he selects. It has been paid; step up and claim your reward; the proof that you've been selected is that his Spirit will join himself to you.'
Those selected run toward it (in their spirit); the others set out to prove it ain't real.
The church made the mistake of making death (soul destruction) not punishment enough! The lost (unselected) want to prove the whole thing is fake. THEY ARE WRONG! God has saved many from destruction as a testimony to his eternal goodness. To torture the unsaved for the same eternity would testify to him being just the opposite. Their death is another testimony to his compassion. See Gen 3:22-24.
Consider the fact that today's scientists and technology can do amazing things. Observe also that sightings of UFOs from aircraft regularly include the sighting of a large submerged object in the ocean below. Perhaps this is a government sponsered project for producing holograms in mid-air for the purpose of confusing enemies. The submerged object could be the transmitter and power source for projecting phased lasers to produce the visual effects. This would explain why the "UFOs" can travel so fast and make right angle turns at high speed. Recall from Rev.13:12-14 that a deceiver in the last days will be able to perform great signs, "in the sight of men", to deceive people. Deception is deceptioin so why not by using technology? (Read about holograms on Wikipedia).
