The Thessalonians were troubled that they had missed "that day." Then Paul told them that "that day" would not come before the emergence of the Antichrist. What does "that day" refer to? The Rapture? The Second Coming? Are the rapture and the Second Coming simultaneous events, or separate? Also, what was this false teaching that was being spread?
2 Thessalonians 2:3
AMP - 3 Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition).

They were worried they were being left behind seeing how they were troubled that they missed that day It would be talking about the rapture. The rapture comes before Jesus physically comes back down to earth Revelations 5 :11. Jesus comes down later Revelations 14:14-16. But we will know when the time is near before the anti-christ. There are signs that happen before he even emerges. I'm not really sure what the teaching was it just says "some prophecy." Which could just be a lie or someone saying they received a word from God that it already happened.
A good hint is found in v. 7. Who is the restrainer? When is the restrainer removed? Found out what the name "Jacob" means, and do not settle on Augustine's definition. Also, find out what Yom Teruah is. You will have your answer when you find out what both of these things are.
