Read Romans 7:4 very carefully, especially verse 6.  In Matthew 5:17 Jesus announced that He did not come to abolish the Law and the Commandments, but that HE came in fulfillment of them. HE embodied the Law and the Covenants and the prophecies. HE completed them.

Now it was up to the Jews to accept Him as the PROMISED Jewish Messiah, their Redeemer. In so doing they would be restored to fellowship with Him and the promises made to the Jews in the Hebrew Bible would become a reality. What happened?

The Jews rejected Him. They continued on their path of ignoring God and finally rejecting their Redeemer, their Messiah. So then what happened?

The Law and the Covenants and the prophecies were all placed on  HOLD  during the time that Jesus assigned Paul, the Apostle (Saul), to take the Good News of salvation by grace through faith to the GENTILES! Yea! Now God offered the free gift of salvation by grace through faith to Jews and Gentiles alike! No more Law et al for those who did so then and who do so today! None!!

Now JESUS was / is our Redeemer, our Savior, our everything, NOT the Law, not the 1,000 commandments, not the 613 rules and regulations, not the oral traditions of the Jewish Hierarchy! HOORAY!!!

When will the Davidic and Abrahamic Covenants be fulfilled?

The Law and the Covenants and the prophecies will be fulfilled in the  future for the JEWISH people who accepted Jesus as their promised Messiah. They will be fulfilled in the promised Kingdom of God on earth, with Jesus seated on the Throne of David ruling with the 12 Tribes of Israel! That is future for the Jews who accepted Jesus as their Messiah 2,000 years ago, and who are now awaiting resurrection to enter their promised Kingdom on earth. It is not for we Christians now or ever, praise God!

The Abrahamic covenant has three parts: to make Abraham a great nation (Genesis 12:1); to give him a great name (Genesis 12:2); and to make him the source of blessing for all the world (Genesis 12:3).

Part 1, God swears not only to make Abraham a great nation, He also makes a covenant in which He promises to deliver Abraham's descendants from oppression in an alien country and give them a specific portion of land (Genesis 15:7-21). FULFILLED.

Part 2, Not only will his name be great, but God by a covenant oath swears to make Abraham "father of a host of nations," a royal dynasty - "kings shall stem from you" (see Genesis 17:1-21). FULFILLED.

Part 3, God swears to make Abraham's descendants "as countless as the stars of the sky and the sands of the seashore." In Abraham's descendants "All the nations of the earth shall find blessing" (Genesis 22:16-18). FULFILLED.


The Davidic covenant has six parts. (see 2 Samuel 7:8-16)

Part 1, the Lord will establish a house for you: "House" means royal dynasty, so this means that David's kingdom will be a dynasty. FULFILLED.

Part 2, I will raise up your heir...and make his kingdom firm: David's son will rule over his kingdom. FULFILLED.

Part 3, He shall build a house for my name: David's son will build a temple for the Ark of the Covenant. FULFILLED. 

Part 4, I will be a Father to him and he shall be a son to Me: The son of David will be adopted as God's own son. This is the first time that the idea of divine sonship is applied to one individual. While God had referred to Israel as His first-born son, no one as yet in the Bible has been called "son of God." FULFILLED.

Part 5, If he does wrong, I will correct him...with human chastisements, but I will not withdraw my favor from him: If David's son breaks His Law, God will send punishments but will never disown him as He disowned Saul. FULFILLED.

Part 6, Your house and your kingdom shall endure forever: David's dynasty will never end. There will always be an heir of David seated upon his throne. FULFILLED.
