My understanding is completely the same in the answer to the question asked, however it make me ask another question. Maybe it has to do with timing,,,,my understanding of scripture is that when a person accepts and believes in Jesus they claim the promise of eternal life, not just by the statement but by receiving the Holy Spirit...and that they are forgiven for past, present and future sins? Do you think that Judas is an example of what will happen when we sin against God knowingly? I know this is tricky but the only thing I can believe is this particular situation, occuring before Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, maybe why he sent so that we can have a constant dialogue? Not even sure if my confusion makes sense as a question...any input?
