My adult son has a language based learning disability. He wants to read the Bible but struggles to understand it. He reads at about a grade 6 level. We have tried NIV and ESV.

The best translation of the bible to read is the King James Version (KJV). It is the first translation of the bible translated in English.
May I suggest the Easy-to-Read Version? My kids (ages 7 and 11) understand it better than NIV and NLT. The long passages have been cut into short and very easy to understand verses without losing their original sense or message.
The action bible is really neat and my kids love it so does my 19 year old step son it's kinda like a comic book
Depending upon the kind of disability... Try a combination of visual and auditory information. Keep it simple. Talk to experts in the field of learning disabilities. This is a great practical question. BLESSINGS!
