Adam Lied. He was depraved and in sin after the fall hence it isn't surprising that they didn't seek restoration immediately or repentance. They were depraved. This depravity led to the lie that he was naked when they actually had fig leaves sewn. They were actually ashamed and afraid because of their disobedience and sin. So he communicated the right feeling about his internal nakedness in a lie about their outward nakedness. God in his loving kindness regenerated them later on unto salvation by making them believe his promise about a seed (Christ) that would restore things. They believed the promise because they were regenerated by the Holy Spirit. But immediately after the fall, they were depraved, lacked repentance; but God in his loving kindness sought them out the same way he seeks us now in our sins and our depravity by his grace, to save us through the blood of his Son, and keep us by his Holy Spirit. We should appreciate this. This was foreshadowed in the garden. So Adam lied because of their depravity, the same reason they tried to hide from God instead of repenting and becoming remorseful. They could not stop sinning and attempted to hide from God. Today depraved people do the same thing. Atheists hide from God by claiming he doesn't exist. Self-righteous people hide from God by trying to please God on their own, Muslims hide from God by believing in a false god and doctrine. Let's appreciate this God that seeks us on his own will and by his grace in spite of our depravity to save us. Let us walk in practical righteousness and holiness so that we would honor his imputed righteousness, his mercy, his grace, and his loving kindness. Deut 7:9. Know therefore, that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations. AMEN
