Why does one faint/break down when being prayed over by a pastor or elder during a fellowship meeting?

It is a practice in certain Christian fellowship organization for a member to ask their pastor/minister to pray for him/her for the seemingly heavy and accruing problems that he/she is experiencing. The member believes that the pastor's/minster's supplication to the Holy Spirit is more powerful and easily attended for immediate help. This praying-over is done while the member is in front of the pastor/minister who made the vocal prayer. In this scenario, the person being prayed over usually fell down/ lost consciousness and recover immediately after the ritual. They suppose that such a lose of awareness experienced by the person is due to the power of the Holy Spirit. Is this true?

I have experienced it and I know it is acknowledgement of the Lord's concern and involvement in the person's situation. In one case of this experience, I was holding a small 4 yr old boy who had been in hospital for 3 1/2 yrs, having had many, many, surgeries, and had been close to death. His birth family had not been in the picture and he came to us as a foster child. The pastor was praying for others as I stood in line. Suddenly, as I stood feeling immense emotional pain, I was catapolted backward on to a chair. I remember saying (or thinking) "Lord, no. Not with the baby". Then I realized my arms where criss-crossed over the child on my chest. The child was "like sleeping". No one had touched us. This was one event. It usually happens when believing people are worshiping and praising God sincerely. That's one of the times it happened to me. I took a friend with me another time to a very large meeting. We got separated in a large altar call. She said to me after......did you see me fall down? I could'nt help myself. Of course, not being near her and being in deed worship, I did not see her go down. I just laughed knowing what had happened.
