*disclaimer - I neither justify nor condone alcoholism in any way

"Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing twenty or thirty gallons each. Jesus said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water." So they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it to him. When the headwaiter tasted the water which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom, and said to him, "Every man serves the good wine first, and when the people have drunk freely, then he serves the poorer wine; but you have kept the good wine until now." This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him." John 2:6-11

"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon!' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds." Matthew 11:18-19

If Jesus wasn't concerned about being accused of associating with drunkards, I highly doubt anyone else should.

(But I do reiterate the fact that a Christian should not get drunk or high, a fact stated in various form throughout scripture.)

Yes and no. Yes, a Christian is allowed to take photos with family members who have beer in their hands. No, a Christian is not signifying support of alcoholism by taking photos with them. Yadhira Cruz, you appear to have chosen to abstain from all alcohol consumption in order to avoid any appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22, KJV). Good for you! I am on your side! And you wouldn't be putting a stumbling block in a brother’s way, in case there are some weak believers in your family who still drink beer. As long as you yourself do not have a beer in your own hands but instead a cup of milk or a glass of water, you wouldn’t be acting as a judge of their activities. (See Matthew 7:1).

We have to show love for family even if they have let their bad choices lead them into strong alcoholic addiction. “Love your neighbor as yourself.” “Remember the pit from which you were dug” (in order that you may catch a fresh sense of the privileges that are yours in your restoration in Jesus Christ.) And then you might have a good opportunity to witness to those who see a difference in you, a freedom from alcoholic addiction. They might ask you “the reason for the hope that is in you.”
