This is a new one for me! I've heard all kinds of ideas about what Christians can't be associated with. But I've never heard that being in a photo with a person who is holding a beer subjects a believer to the charge of supporting alcoholism.

* Let me do my own disclaimer ~ I don't use alcohol. It's not for the purpose of pride that I admit this. I don't believe alcohol consumption is sinful or bad, or antichrist, or anything like that. It's that I know what God doesn't want ME doing. Many times I struggle to obey. (I won't name anything). Alcohol just happens to be an easy one for me to forego. (too many negative side effects).

When I was a boy of around 9, my dad and I was at his parents' house. My dad was a young preacher in the beginning stages of his ministry. His dad had a friend visiting; neither of them were 'church going' men.

(my grandfather was a cool old dude, very reserved; he passed away when I was 23 years old, and I never heard him raise his voice to anyone; not once! If he ever used profane language he didn't do it around his grandchildren. We all bragged about that, because almost everybody we knew CUSSED!)

On that day, he asked my dad to pass his friend a beer, just hand it to his friend Mr Robert, and my dad wouldn't do it. To this day, I still don't understand!! When we left I asked my dad why. He said he didn't want to support alcohol use. (I thought, 'Come on dad!!').

He grew up over the years. I was glad he did!
