It was not possible for Satan to kill Jesus, because Jesus is one with God. He said, "I and the Father are One". Satan is only a fallen arch-angel, not the antithesis or dark evil equivelant of God. Satan did make several attempts to kill Jesus. First, when Jesus was a baby in Bethlehem. King Herod killed all the baby boys under two years of age, trying to get this baby that was spoken of by the prophets, and sought by the wisemen. God spoke to Joseph in a dream to escape to Egypt. When Jesus spent 40 days in the desert, Satan tempted Jesus to commit suicide, attempting to have Jesus die before He was able to accomplish His work on earth of dying for the sins of the entire world. Also, there was an occasion when the pharisees had decided to stone Jesus, but he simply disappeared into the crowd and walked away. God's plans and purposes for sending Jesus far exceeded Satan's ability to destroy Him before His time had come to complete the work that God had sent Him to do.
