If the new Jerusalem is the new heaven on earth measuring 1,400 miles by 1,400 miles where there will be no need for sun, what happens to the sun then? Will it stop rising and setting in the other parts?what happens to the remaining part of the earth? Is that the outer darkness?

There are a number of very interesting questions for the New Jerusalem. One is, when there, we will still be individuals. That means there will be differences still - but no conflict - so what will discussions be like there?
However, "there is no need for a sun" means just that. In Creation, God made light before he created the sun and moon. Do not try to limit the New heaven by our human terms. This is going to be quite different from anything any of us knows!
