John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." So who is this Word? Jesus! John 1:14 "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as the only Begotten of the Father..."

John 10:30 "I and the Father are one.”

John 20:28 "Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”

Isa 9:6 "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Titus 2:13 "Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ..."

Col 2:9 "For in him [Christ] the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily..."

Hebrews 1:8 "But of the Son He [God the Father] says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom."

2 Peter 1:1 "Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ..."

Isa 44:6 "Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: 'I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no (other) god.'" Compare to Rev 22:13 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."

Dr. Charles Ryrie says that Christ's deity is proved by His equality in the trinity and lists Matthew 28:19 as well as 2 Corinthians 13:14. Regarding the former passage, BB Warfield says, "The connection described is inherent and essential, and not that of presence or external fellowship" (Westcott). This prepares us for the great assertion: "I and the Father are one" (Jn 10:30), from which it is a mere corollary that "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father" (Jn 14:9; compare John 8:19; 12:45)."

Our opponents in the faith say something like this:
John 10:30 "I and the Father are one.” - that "if we read this in context" but then does not explain how the context disagrees with the standard Christian interpretation. Furthermore, if my opponent claims (as he does) that Jesus is making a distinction between himself and God here, he needs to explain why the Jews reacted as they did. In John 10:33 and following the Jews attempt to stone Jesus for these words, because they believed he was claiming to be God. My opponent presumes to understand the mindset and words of a 1st-century Jewish man better than a 1st-century Jewish author. This is an arrogant and absurd presumption. The most natural reading is to see Jesus' words meaning exactly what they say 'I and the Father are one." This is bolstered when we see that the immediate audience interpreted it in exactly that way. -- DEBATE.ORG

A child of God writes, "Pray Christians believe and understand the divinity of Christ: Matt.1:18; Luke 1:35; 2 Cor. 3:17; John 4:24; John 8:42; John 16:27-30; John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9; John 17:5."
