Could the book of Revelation be a symbolic message to the early Christians of the destruction of Jerusalem?

Could the book of Revelation be a symbolic message to the early Christians of the destruction of Jerusalem that was prophesied in Joel 2, Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21?

How well does the siege of Jerusalem fit into the book of Revelation?

In my opinion no. If one reads and studies Revelation it becomes quite clear that it is about the end of time. If it was about the destruction of Jerusalem and let's even include Israel, why would it start out talking about the 7 different Churches? When was a third of mankind killed, a third of the creature in the ocean killed or a third of the land burned! What about the army of 200 million that is killed by Jesus? These are just a couple of points.
